  • The white kernel of the coconut – this is the main input into our manufacturing processes.
  • Coconut Water – this is sold to other companies that process the water for retail consumption.
  • Coconut Shell – The shells are powdered and used in the manufacture of several other products such as tyres and activated carbon.

Average Monthly Energy Use – 1,120MWh

Of this we use

  • 84% renewable energy (78% biomass, 6% solar power)
  • 16% non-renewable energy (7% fuels and 9% electricity off the national grid)
  • We have solar power grids at 2 of our locations – in Pannala and Grandpass. Overall, our grid capacity is 520kW, and on average we generate 70 Megawatt hours per month.
  • We use a flash steam collection system in our manufacturing operations in order to reuse the steam generated and reduce our energy consumption.

  • The goal is to reduce water usage in our operations by 1% every year.
  • 100% of the wastewater we generate is treated to the CEA standard in our in-house wastewater treatment facility and then used for washing, irrigation, and such uses.

  • All waste is segregated in our waste yard facility into hazardous waste, recyclable waste, and other waste.
  • Hazardous waste is disposed by a CEA-licensed hazardous waste handling facility.
  • Recyclable waste is given to recycling centres in the provincial council.

Packaging Materials

  • Wide range of packaging materials used – glass jars, PET bottles, HDPE cans, kraft paper bags, polypropylene bags, and liners. Currently about 80% of our packaging materials are recyclable, and we are making extra efforts to increase this number.
